The R.H. Bearden Quest Gifted Enrichment Program travelrd to Glendora, MS to the Emmett Till Historic Intrepid Center. They were greeted by Glendora’s Mayor Mr. Johnny B. Thomas. Chloe Douglas, a member of the gifted program, is a relative of the Mayor. The spotlight of being a part of the history gave Chloe a little spotlight.
Mayor Thomas presented the students with a short introductory film about the Center. He then gave them a very informative and educational tour. He explained to them the importance of getting their education and learning about history.
The students were so excited. They were amused with so many scenes such as the truck, the juke joint, the store, the bedroom and many more things. The center is amazing. Visiting the center would be a great experience for all students.
Mayor Thomas presented the class with a book that he has written. He said that he would love to come and visit the class. We are surely going to invite him. Mayor Thomas expressed how good it felt to have the students there. The conversations were very interesting. They were very enjoyable to him.
Mayor Thomas has many goals in place for the center. The gifted class is excited to visit the center again and experience the new and exciting things. We would like to thank the mayor and his assistant for their hospitality.
