"We Can, We Can Take My Hand" , the Motto of Superintendent Dr. Ellington was the true theme of the R. H. Bearden Quest Gifted Enrichment Program's end of the year bash. Hearing or reading about it does no justice to actually being there and sharing the moment.
The bash started with Superintendent Dr Ellington giving awesome words of encouragement to the students. Her icebreaker was an opportunity for the students to show their talent. Ahri Bridges shared one of his favorite songs with the group.
The students and parents had the opportunity to meet Mr. Mathis Sheriff ,MDE Director of the Gifted Program. They also met his assistant Mrs. Lori Sisk. They spoke with them on the importance of understanding giftedness and the program's purpose. They enjoyed a competitive team building activity. The students had one on one and group conversations with them. They were just as excited to talk to the students as the students were eager to talk to them.
Parents were a strong voice towards the gifted program. Their words meant alot to Mathis Sheriff. They have been very supportive of the gifted program. It was also heart-warming to have a co-worker such as Ariyah Davis to enlighten them on the success of the program. Mrs. Plez also assured them that Ms. Pointer was a great person to run the program. The meal was prepared by the parents. It was delicious. It was a great opportunity for parents to interact with each other as well as our guest.
This has been a remarkable year. It could not have been done without support. We look forward to growing and continuing to expose our students to new adventures next school term. The gifted program appreciates all support. However, we have to extend a special thanks to Ms. Kemmery Hill.
